2009 Wrap Up

We would like to extend our appreciation and deepest regards to all the drivers, teams, clubs and fans that have supported Street-Wise Drift throughout our inaugural 2009 Event Season. SWD has enjoyed a stellar year of growth. Watching all of the drivers progress in both skill and car prep make all the hard work and effort well worth it.

Wrapping up the season at the biggest race track on the East Coast "Lowes Motor Speedway" seemed to fit the bill perfectly. It was an amazing thing to see all of those drivers packed up into the nationwide garage. There was a buzz about the place that even the rain and cold weather couldn't quell.

The event went off without a hitch all day and though a few fearless drivers did check up and rub the guard rails everyone was able to practice and compete hard at a venue we will certainly revisit in 2010. The competition at this event was fierce and for "Joe Gorcesky " of the DMB crew to come in and take 1st was simply epic. We look forward to seeing you at future events brotha.

Team N Speeds very own Eric Norman placed a respectable 3rd which earned him enough points to walk away with the series points championship and enjoy free entry to all of next years events. Not to mention the man pulled one of the slickest moves I've ever seen at an event of this nature when he proposed to his girl right there in the garage! I've got to say that may be a first in the D world.

Rob Fallows clinched 2nd place with only 1 point separating him and Eric. Hayden Horton of BRE was a close 4th place and Dan Grant pulled a hat trick to earn 5th with his first ever qualifying finish in the top 6 which was only to be followed up by Ryan Deavers valiant effort in a bone stock S14 for 6th. Congratulation to you guys and we look forward to seeing you all compete again next year.

After a brief review of the rosters over the last 11 months SWD has served no less than 146 individual drivers throughout the event series! Countless fans have come out to embrace the spectacle that is drifting and the local motorsports community is starting to take notice that drifting is here to stay in NC.

Big big thanks to all the volunteers that have come into our events to do everything from set up , breakdown , crowd control and cone shagging. Without the help of these selfless peeps it would have been next to impossible to make things run as smoothly as they have. Last but not least I'd like to thank all the photography and videographer peeps that has captured what can only be considered the essence of what we all love to do! Drift!!

We are presently working on the schedule for 2010 and will be announcing it in the coming weeks. Keep an eye on the website for updates.

Thanks to everyone for a great year!
